Wolves Add 19 Players on Eve of Training Camp

The Chicago Wolves announced Saturday that they received 19 players who will arrive at the Triphahn Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates prior to the start of training camp on Tuesday.

Forwards Cody Beach, Pat Cannone, Jaedon Descheneau, Jacob Doty, Justin Hodgman, Danny Kristo, Zach Pochiro, Ryan Tesink and Yannick Veilleux, defensemen Konrad Abeltshauser, Jordan Schmaltz and Thomas Vannelli and goaltenders Jordan Binnington and Niklas Lundstrom were assigned to the Wolves by the St. Louis Blues (NHL).

Forwards Spencer Asuchak, Eriah Hayes, Zach O’Brien and Evan Trupp and defenseman Stu Bickel were released from their professional tryout contracts with St. Louis. Asuchak, Hayes, O’Brien and Trupp are signed to Wolves contracts while Bickel accepted an invitation to training camp.

Beach, Cannone, Doty, Veilleux, Binnington and Lundstrom played for the Wolves during the 2014-15 season, which concluded with the franchise’s 17th playoff berth in its 21-year history. Cannone ranked as the team’s second-leading scorer (14 goals, 33 assists) while Binnington (25-15-4, 2.35 GAA) played every minute of the playoffs and set a team regular-season record with 18 consecutive starts.

The Wolves’ training camp runs through Saturday. Chicago opens the preseason on Thursday with a 7 p.m. game at Rockford before playing host to the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Triphahn Ice Arena. To purchase tickets for the Wolves’ lone home exhibition, call (847) 885-7500.
