Schmaltz Returns to Wolves

April 20, 2017

The Chicago Wolves announced Thursday that defenseman Jordan Schmaltz has been returned on loan to the club by the St. Louis Blues.

During his tenure with St. Louis that began on March 1, Schmaltz skated in 10 National Hockey League contests – including an Stanley Cup Playoff game – and collected two assists in the process.

Schmaltz made his NHL debut on March 5 against the Colorado Avalanche and registered his first point – an assist – three games later against the same team.

The 23-year-old was drafted by the Blues in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to his recall, Schmaltz appeared in 42 games for the Wolves and recorded 25 points (3G, 22A). Even with the 19-game absence, Schmaltz finished 13th in team scoring and fifth among Wolves defensemen.

The Verona, Wisconsin, native will be available tonight when the Wolves open the 2017 Calder Cup Playoff Central Division Semifinals against the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles’ Coliseum. Game time is 6 p.m., and the contest will stream on AHLLive.com.
