Adopt-A-Dog Program

The Chicago Wolves remain deeply committed to helping dogs find the loving homes they deserve. Thanks to our incredible fans and supporters, nearly 2,000 dogs have found their forever families through our Skates’ Sidekicks program.

In addition, we’re thrilled to announce that Adopt-A-Dog Night will return for the 2025–26 regular season, with one special night each month dedicated to pairing amazing dogs with their future families. These events will once again feature wonderful pups from our trusted rescue partners—all of whom are waiting for a second chance at love and a place to call home.

These two sweet males have been through a lot but are ready to start the next chapter of their lives with a family that will cherish them as they are. Wrigley and Biggie are great with other dogs and would fit in nicely with a pack, but they also adore each other and would be happiest staying together.

Their bond is undeniable, and they share a special connection that makes them inseparable. If you’re looking for two sweet, loving companions who will bring joy, laughter, and endless affection into your life, Wrigley and Biggie might just be the perfect pair for you!

Ryder: Are you looking for a friendly, playful, silly, cuddlebug? Then Ryder is your guy! You can tell he is looking for love from his human companions and enjoys spending time with you- whether that is playing a game of fetch, watching you eat, trying to convince you to give him a piece with his puppy dog eyes, or snuggling up with you watching TV. We have been Ryder’s long-term foster for a few months, and, we’ve been able to see his goofy personality shine through.

Ryder is very curious about the world around him and wants to take everything in, which can sometimes be too much! He definitely takes on the energy of those around him so in loud or chaotic situations he can become super energetic wanting to join in on the fun. So long as his family knows his social limits and allows him to take some breaks from fast-paced situations, Ryder will do just fine!

Sticking to a routine has been very helpful for Ryder’s transition into our home. It took him about 3 weeks to be comfortable in his foster home and then about 2 more to learn our routine. Now whenever I need to go to work, he goes into his kennel without needing to be asked because he knows that I need to leave and he isn’t able to come with. We have left him out of his kennel when we leave for a short amount of time (under an hour) and Ryder has just napped on the couch while we were away.

When it comes to going on walks, squirrels beware! Ryder definitely has a drive to chase after squirrels and bunnies. However, once they are safely up the tree or out of sight, he is good to keep moving on for his walks. Just be sure whoever is behind the leash can handle the pull of this 75lb dog! Aside from the squirrels, he loves going on walks. We have done a bit of jogging with him and it seems like he would fit in with someone who wants to do short jogs around the block. He can sometimes pull on the leash at the start of a walk because of excitement, but within a few minutes, he is sniffing away happily on a relaxed leash. Ryder is definitely a food hound though, so be sure to be on the lookout in case there is food on the ground as you walk- he will absolutely try and gobble it up.

While we are unable to introduce Ryder to other dogs while in foster, he is definitely curious about them on walks! He does well if the other dog doesn’t start barking at him and can walk right on by the other side of the street without issue. If the other dog starts barking at him, then Ryder can get riled up and will need some help disengaging out of sight of the other dog. Any dog introductions to Ryder should be done slowly as his high and excited energy can be a lot for other dogs. You can tell he would love to go play with the other dogs- he can just be a bit of a bulldozer when he plays!

Ryder likes: walks, treats/food, meeting new people, getting pets, new toys, playing, giving you kisses, watching outside the window, going on car rides (he LOVES this!), being social, the mailman (ours gives him treats!), his kong and snuffle mat.

Ryder dislikes: squirrels/small animals, cats, extended loud noises, rough housing while playing, dogs who bark at him for no reason when we are out on walks.

Overall, Ryder has been a great foster dog. He truly loves his people and is looking for a family that will love him back. He plays fetch, brings the toy back to you, and knows some basic commands- sit, stay, kennel, down (we taught “down” to him in about 3 weeks since we got him- so he is trainable for more tricks). He is housetrained and also kennel-trained (although he will give you loving puppy dog eyes trying to convince you that he should be able to stay on the couch instead!). If your family would do well with a lovable goofball who loves to play and snuggle, then consider giving Ryder a chance! We are open to answering any questions you might have to see if he would be a good fit for you and your family!

Vera: 5-year-old female spayed pitbull/boxer mix

Vera is an affectionate and well-behaved dog who has quickly become a cherished member of her foster home. She loves to play and cuddle with her family and is always eager for attention. Though she’s a strong walker, Vera has been making great progress in her leash skills. She’s highly food-motivated and excited to learn new tricks. Vera adores meeting new people and never hesitates to ask for pets and belly rubs, making her a lovable and friendly companion.

Hear what Vera’s fosters have to say about her:

“Vera’s doing great! She’s gained some healthy weight and is having a blast in our cozy apartment. She’s been on a few long drives to my parents’ place, and she’s totally smitten with their bigger home and yard. She’d love a yard where she can run and play to her heart’s content and a home where there are multiple people she can show love and affection to. She’s loves to cuddle, but she’s also got good boundaries. If you ask her to stay in her bed, she’ll respect your space. She’s super food-motivated, so treats are a must for working on her walking, good behavior, and tricks. She’s a pro at crating, and she sleeps like a baby through the night.”

Meet Honey, a sweet, loyal girl who’s ready to form a deep, loving bond with her future forever family. Honey thrives on being close to her people—she follows us around the house and loves being part of the action. While she does experience some separation anxiety, she’s happiest when surrounded by her humans, so a home where someone works from home might be ideal for her.

Honey can be a little shy when meeting new people, but after a few minutes, she warms up and quickly becomes their new best friend. She’s done wonderfully with family friends who’ve watched her, showing off her loving and easygoing nature. Food-motivated and quick to learn, Honey loves to show off her tricks and is always up for a cuddle.

Her perfect day includes sunbathing on the couch in the morning, a relaxing walk in the afternoon, and plenty of playtime and snuggles at night. This happy girl’s tail is almost always wagging, and her classic “pitty smile” will melt your heart.

Although on walks, she’s reactive toward other dogs, she’s perfectly content with humans and doesn’t react to other small animals.

Honey would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can be the sole focus of her family’s love and attention. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and playful companion, Honey might be your perfect match!

Eden’s ideal night? Netflix, snacks, and cozying up with her favorite introvert. She may take a little time to warm up, but when she does, she’ll melt your heart with love and loyalty. Bonus: she’s dog-friendly too!

No one ever claimed the family.  They were saved by our Rescue Partner in the area and are now with us, looking for loving homes.  A much brighter future is in store for them! Marcus is cautious with other dogs, but does warm up with time. He is great with cats!

She’s the perfect blend of cuddle bug and tug champion-this girl loves her people, her comfy chairs, and a solid round of “find it.”

She would love a home with a yard-but could totally thrive as a leash-walk girlie with the right human(s)!

Ready for a loyal, loving, slightly chunky sidekick?

tipsy

Meet Tipsy, a sweet and gentle hound with a heart as big as her soulful eyes! Tipsy has completed her heartworm treatment and is now ready to focus on what she loves most: being close to her people.

She’s a loyal, loving companion who truly shines in a home where someone is around most of the time. Tipsy is also a polite coexister around other dogs-she doesn’t demand attention from them but is happy to share her space peacefully. Whether she’s lounging at your side, following you from room to room, or soaking up gentle pets, Tipsy’s calm and affectionate nature makes every moment special.

3 years, 7 months, Female Mixed Cattle Dog Breed

chloe

4-year-old Female mixed lab/pitbull

If you’re a guy looking for a four-legged best friend, Chloe might just be your perfect match. Unlike many shelter dogs, Chloe prefers men-and she’s been thriving in her foster home with her foster dad, Jeff. Their favorite pastime? Endless games of fetch in the yard. (Seriously, she could play all day. The girl is simple: food, ball, and Dad!)

Chloe is a high-energy, tennis-ball-obsessed sweetheart who loves a quiet, simple life. She’s looking for an adult-only home where she can be the center of attention, soak up affection, and enjoy the stability she craves. She thrives with structure and will do best with someone who appreciates her playful spirit and knows the magic of a good routine.

athena

8-year-old female Siberian Husky

Athena is a gorgeous husky with a playful spirit and a heart that’s still adjusting after a big life change. Recently surrendered, she’s feeling the loss of her lifelong home-and she’s hoping for a patient adopter who can give her the stability and consistency she craves.

Athena loves the company of other dogs and would do best in a home with a canine buddy to keep her entertained and reassured. Possibly even with her son, Oso who she was surrendered with at just five years old.

chloe

Chloe is a court-designated “vicious dog”—how that happened is a story for another time. Because of this label, she must wear a muzzle anytime she’s outside a home or enclosed space.

Sadly, dogs like Chloe often bear the consequences of human failure, while their owners face little accountability.

Chloe’s journey with us has been about rehab and redemption. Though we can’t change the law to remove her “vicious” status, we can train her to the point where the muzzle is more of a fashion statement than an indicator of an unfriendly dog.

Still, she’ll carry the public stigma of having to wear a muzzle for life.

Today, Chloe is out training—working on behavior standards far beyond most pets. We hope her progress helps shift how people see muzzled dogs.

Chloe is 5 years old, up to date on her annual medical, and has excelled so much in the past 2 years with LSR. Chloe LOVES all people, including kids. She’s housebroken, crate trained, and is acing her training classes! This is one smart girlie! Chloe is a huge love bug, enjoys playing fetch, gets the occasional pittie zoomies, and will melt your heart once you meet her! She is looking for someone to give her a chance and look past her history and muzzle.

Chloe is now looking for a next step foster home or forever home! Training is required and provided free of cost. The easiest transition will be a home with no other dogs and an enclosed yard.
