The Chicago Wolves offer two programs for aspiring journalists: the Writing Chance program and Future Journalist Media Day.

Future Journalist Media Day

Jr-Media-Day-Hospital-034The Chicago Wolves hosted their sixth annual Future Journalists Media Day for high school students during the team's practice on Wed., Dec. 7, 2011 at the Triphahn Community Center and Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Guest speakers for the event included CBS-2 Chicago Sports Anchor and WGN Radio Host Jill Carlson, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago Feature Reporter Sarah Kustok, Chicago Tribune Reporter Paul LaTour and ESPN 100 Radio Host Harry Teinowitz. The four discussed their experiences making a career in sports journalism and answered questions from students.

In addition to the Q&A with the speakers, the students had the chance to watch practice and interview Wolves coaches and players.

Writing Chance

The Writing Chance program is a unique media-reporting opportunity for promising student writers and photographers. The Wolves invite local high school and college journalists and photographers to experience a game as a member of the media.

The students' skills are expanded as they are granted full media credentials and the assistance of the Wolves media relations department to write and photograph a game for their school newspaper. Students are able to watch the game from the press box and have the opportunity to take part in a post-game interview with Wolves Head Coach Craig MacTavish.

All stories will be posted on the Chicago Wolves website. For more information about the program, please email Dan Harris at DJHarris@chicagowolves.com.
