Wolves Fall to Milwaukee 3-1 in Preseason Finale

Wolves at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE---The Chicago Wolves fell into a two-goal hole and couldn’t climb out as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals in their final preseason contest at the Kern Center Saturday night.

Right wing Darren Haydar scored the lone goal for the Wolves, while Ryan Thang, Blake Geoffrion and Scott Ford scored for the Admirals.

Wolves goaltenders Drew MacIntyre (15 saves) and Edward Pasquale (six saves) split time in MacIntyre’s loss.

The Admirals opened scoring with 17 seconds left in the first period when Thang knocked home the rebound from Jean Claude Sawyer’s shot from the left point to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.

Milwaukee (2-0) took a 2-0 lead at the 16:27 mark of the second period when Geoffrion came down the left side of the ice and fired a wrist shot that beat MacIntyre short side.

Chicago (2-1) cut the Admirals lead in half, 2-1, with a power-play goal from Haydar at 2:56 of the third period. Defenseman Mike Siklenka fired a shot which Admirals goaltender Chet Pickard got a piece of but trickled behind him for Haydar to push over the line.

Pickard made 21 saves for Milwaukee.

The Admirals regained a two-goal lead, 3-1, with a shorthanded tally at 9:29 of the third period. Scott Ford fired a blast from the top of the right face-off circle that snuck through traffic and past Wolves netminder Pasquale, who replaced MacIntyre at the start of the third period.

The Wolves will open their 17th season in Texas when they battle the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center on Fri., Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.
