Wolves Beat The Heat, 5-2

Forwards Andre Deveaux (2G) and Jason Krog (2A) and defensemen Paul Postma (3A) and Mark Matheson (2A) notched multiple points, while forwards Angelo Esposito, Ryan Garbutt and Nigel Dawes potted the other goals for the Wolves.

Chicago (14-14-2-0) opened scoring 9:54 into the first period when Esposito found the loose puck in the slot and backhanded a shot past Abbotsford goaltender Leland Irving, glove side

The Wolves brought the score to 2-0 with a power-play marker 13:09 into the first frame when Deveaux one-timed a shot from the right faceoff circle.

Abbotsford (15-12-0-3) got on board on the power play to cut the deficit to 2-1, 8:19 into the second period when left wing Stefan Meyer slipped the puck past Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino.

Three minutes later, Garbutt found the puck in the paint and popped it past Irving to regain a two-goal lead, 3-1, 11:20 into the middle frame.

Chicago scored its second power-play goal of the night when Krog fed a pass to Dawes who put the puck in the net from the doorstep, bringing the score to 4-1, 13:51 into the second period.

The Heat brought the score to 4-2 with a power-play goal, when right wing Greg Nemisz ripped a shot past Mannino into the empty side of the net one minute into the third period.

Mannino (9-6-0) stopped 29 of 31 shots in the win.

The Wolves closed scoring, 5-2, with a power-play goal when Deveaux deflected Matheson’s shot over Irving and into the net, 17:08 into the last frame.

Irving (14-8-1) posted 23 saves for Abbotsford.

The Wolves continue their four-game road swing against the Rockford IceHogs on Wed., Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m.
