Atlanta Returns Welch to Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned defenseman Noah Welch to the Chicago Wolves.
Welch was recalled by Atlanta on Oct. 26 and skated in one outing with the Thrashers, logging 18:39 of ice time on Oct. 27 against the New York Rangers.
The 28-year-old blueliner has dished out two assists in seven games with the Wolves this season. He recorded five points (G, 4A), 33 penalty minutes in 37 games with Chicago last season, and has amassed nine points (4G, 5A) and 58 penalty minutes in 74 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-07), Florida Panthers (2007-09), Tampa Bay Lightning (2008-09) and Atlanta (2010-11).
The Brighton, Mass., native also has notched 17 goals, 49 assists, 66 points and 191 penalty minutes in 166 career AHL matchups with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2005-07), Rochester Americans (2006-07; 2008-09) and Wolves.
