Edmundson and Shattock visit area libraries on Dec. 17

Chicago Wolves defenseman Joel Edmundson and right wing Tyler Shattock will appear at Chicago-area libraries on Tuesday, Dec. 17, as part of the 19th season of the “Read to Succeed” program, presented by Butternut Bread and J.U.L.I.E., Call 811 Before You Dig.

Edmundson will appear at the Prairie Trails Public Library District. He starts his program at 4 p.m. at 8449 Moody Ave. in Burbank.

Shattock will appear at the Cary Area Public Library District. His program begins at 7 p.m. at 1606 Three Oaks Road in Cary.

The “Read to Succeed” program teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the many resources that libraries have to offer. Edmundson and Shattock will speak about the benefits of reading outside the classroom and discuss how it plays an important part in their lives as professional athletes.

Participants can win prizes — including Wolves hats, beanie pucks, and tickets to upcoming games — for setting and achieving reading goals.

Throughout the season, more than 17,000 children will participate in the program, with Wolves players making appearances at select libraries throughout the Chicago area.
