Fairchild, Regner, and Harper visit area libraries on Jan. 8

Chicago Wolves defensemen Cade Fairchild and Brent Regner and right wing Shane Harper will appear at Chicago-area libraries on Wednesday, Jan. 8, as part of the 19th season of the “Read to Succeed” program, presented by Butternut Bread and J.U.L.I.E., Call 811 Before You Dig.

Fairchild, an Academic All-Big Ten honoree at the University of Minnesota, will appear at both Elmwood Park Public Library and Morton Grove Public Library. His first program will begin at 4:30 p.m. at 1 Conti Parkway in Elmwood Park. Following that, he will meet with participants at 7 p.m. at 6140 Lincoln Ave. in Morton Grove.

Regner will appear at the Highland Park Public Library. His program will start at 7 p.m. at 494 Laurel Ave. in Highland Park.

Harper will make appearances in Summit and Palos Heights. His first program will start at 4:30 p.m. at Summit Public Library, located at 6233 S. Archer Road. He will start his Palos Heights Library program at 7 p.m. at 12501 S. 71st Ave.

The “Read to Succeed” program teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the many resources that libraries have to offer. The players will speak about the benefits of reading outside the classroom and discuss how it plays an important part in their lives as professional athletes.

Participants can win prizes — including Wolves hats, beanie pucks, and tickets to upcoming games — for setting and achieving reading goals.

Throughout the season, more than 17,000 children will participate in the program, with Wolves players making appearances at select libraries throughout the Chicago area.
