Chicago Wolves forward Ty Rattie and defenseman Cade Fairchild will combine to make appearances at three local libraries on Wednesday, March 12, to cap the 19th season of the “Read to Succeed” program, presented by Butternut Bread and J.U.L.I.E., Call 811 Before You Dig.
Rattie, the team’s leading scorer with 22 goals and 37 points, will be at the Blue Island Public Library located at 2433 York Street in Blue Island. His program begins at 4:30 p.m.
Fairchild, an Academic All-Big Ten honoree at the University of Minnesota, will start his afternoon at Justice Library. He begins his program at 4 p.m. at 7641 Oak Grove Ave in Justice. Following that he will make an appearance at Orland Park Public Library. His program will begin at 7 p.m. at 14921 Ravinia Ave. in Orland Park.
The Read to Succeed program teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the many resources that libraries have to offer. Rattie and Fairchild will speak about the benefits of reading outside the classroom and discuss how it plays an important part in their lives as professional athletes.
Participants can win prizes — including Wolves hats, beanie pucks, and tickets to upcoming games — for setting and achieving reading goals.
Throughout the season, more than 17,000 children participated in the program as Wolves players made appearances at select libraries throughout the Chicago area.
