With two weeks and counting until the Chicago Wolves open their 21st season against the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Allstate Arena, it becomes clearer each day that hockey is nigh.
At Allstate Arena on Wednesday, a veteran crew painted the lines and the logos on a fresh sheet of ice. At the Wolves’ practice facility in Hoffman Estates, delivery trucks roll up with new sticks and other equipment every day. Equipment manager Craig Kogut has prepared the immaculate burgundy and white jerseys that the Wolves will wear.
Everything is in place for the start of Wolves training camp on Monday. After two days of drills, the team starts a string of four exhibition games in four days on Wednesday. From there, it will be a matter of moments before the Wolves start to defend their 2014 Midwest Division title and chase their fifth league championship.
