Chicago Wolves’ Shane Harper visits Naperville’s 95th Street Library on Dec. 11

Chicago Wolves forward Shane Harper will appear at the 95th Street Library on Thursday, Dec. 11, to kick off the 20th season of the “Read to Succeed” program, presented by Butternut Bread and J.U.L.I.E., Inc.

The 25-year-old Harper, who grew up in southern California and has played all over North America during his career, will start his program at 4 p.m. at 3015 Cedar Glade Dr. in Naperville.

The “Read to Succeed” program teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the many resources that libraries have to offer. Harper will speak about the benefits of reading outside the classroom and discuss how it plays an important part in his life as a professional athlete.

Participants can win prizes — including Wolves knit hats, pennants, and tickets to upcoming games — for setting and achieving reading goals.

Throughout the season, more than 17,000 children will participate in the program, with Wolves players making appearances at select libraries throughout the Chicago area.
