Pochiro moves to Quad City

The Chicago Wolves announced Tuesday that rookie center Zach Pochiro has been reassigned to the Quad City Mallards (ECHL) by the St. Louis Blues (NHL).Pochiro, 21, spent preseason camp and the first two weeks of the American Hockey League season with the Wolves, but did not appear in a game. He turned professional after playing the last three seasons with the Prince George Cougars (WHL), where he amassed 61 goals and 86 assists.

The St. Louis native also picked up 17 games of ECHL experience at the close of the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He has 4 career assists and 13 penalty minutes to show for his time with the Kalamazoo Wings and Alaska Aces.

The Wolves travel to Rockford for an Illinois Lottery Cup clash at 7 p.m. Friday before returning home to face the Charlotte Checkers at 3 p.m. Sunday on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The Wolves will use pink sticks during warmups, then autograph them and make them available for a $175 donation. That supports the cost of breast health testing as part of A Silver Lining Foundation’s “Buy A Mom A Mammogram”program.

While the unique sticks are only available at Sunday’s games, Stick It To Breast Cancer pucks, T-shirts, sweatshirts and tote bags are available at Allstate Arena or by calling 1-800-THE-WOLVES. Stick It To Breast Cancer proceeds benefit A Silver Lining Foundation and Chicago Wolves Chicago.
