Chicago and Rockford resume their Illinois Lottery Cup series tonight as the IceHogs make their first Allstate Arena appearance of the season. The Wolves have dropped four straight against Rockford dating to last season.
The 2015-16 Illinois Lottery Cup rivalry has featured two close games in Rockford. Chicago rallied from two goals down to earn a road point in the series opener (Oct. 23). The rematch on Nov. 27 saw Chicago pull even in the second period before Bryan Bickell scored the game-winner.
The Wolves are coming off a 4-3 shootout win over Texas on Wednesday. JOHN ANDERSON’s club jumped on the Stars early, striking for three goals in the first period. Chicago will try to win back-to-back games for the first time since Nov. 8-12.
Tonight’s game marks the start of seven straight games against Central Division opponents as the Wolves look to improve upon their sixth-place position in the standings.
The Wolves are auctioning Epilepsy Awareness jerseys as part of Epilepsy Awareness Night, presented by Heidenhain. The commemorative jerseys, which have a father/son theme, are inspired by the bond between Wolves general manager Wendell Young and his older son, Matthew, who was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2013.
