The Chicago Wolves announced Tuesday that defenseman Kevin Tansey has been recalled from loan to the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL) while defenseman Josh Atkinson has been released.
While with the Mavericks, the 24-year-old Tansey skated in 41 games and tallied 28 points (12G, 16A). He ranked as the club’s top-scoring defenseman and sixth in team scoring overall. In January, the Ontario native represented Missouri during the 2017 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic in Glen Falls, New York.
Originally a Wolves training camp invitee, Tansy signed a standard player’s contract with the organization on Oct. 7. He appeared in 12 games with Chicago and posted a -1 plus/minus rating and 19 penalty minutes before being loaned to Missouri on Nov. 14.
Tansey’s recall comes in conjunction with Atkinson’s release. The 24-year-old Atkinson signed a PTO with Chicago on March 2 and made his AHL debut on March 4 against the Cleveland Monsters. Through two contests, Atkinson logged a -1 plus/minus rating and skated primarily on the Wolves’ third defensive pairing with fellow rookie Vince Dunn.
Tansey will join the Wolves as they wrap up a six-game homestand on Thursday (March 9) against the Cleveland Monsters. Puck drop is 7 p.m. for Craft Beer Night and the game will stream live on AHLLive.com. For ticket information or complete 2016-17 broadcast information, visit ChicagoWolves.com.
