Duke to Skate with Wolves

April 7, 2017

The Chicago Wolves announced Friday that center Reid Duke has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the team.

Skating in the Western Hockey League – with time split between the Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge Hurricanes – Duke collected 253 points (115G, 138A) in 311 career games.

This season with the Wheat Kings, the 21-year-old Calgary native led the squad with 37 goals and 34 assists for 71 points in 59 games. He registered three goals in four games against the Medicine Hat Tigers during the 2017 WHL Playoffs.

Duke helped lead Brandon to the postseason all three years he skated with the club and, in 2016, the club earned the Ed Chynoweth Cup as the Wheat Kings became the 50th WHL champion.

On March 6,  Duke became the first player to sign with the Vegas Golden Knights, the National Hockey League’s new franchise that begins play next season.

Duke was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round, 169th overall, of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Minnesota elected not to sign Duke, designating him a free agent when his junior career came to a close.

Chicago enters its last five regular-season games with Saturday’s contest against the Iowa Wild at Allstate Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on CW50 as the Wolves host their annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Sears Home Services.

On Sunday, April 9, Chicago wraps up its season series with the Rockford IceHogs. The Illinois Lottery Cup clash starts at 4 p.m. and will air on CW50. The first 5,000 fans to enter the arena will receive a cellphone wallet, presented by DecisionOne Dental Partners.
