Wolves Rout Admirals for Perfect Preseason Record

Veteran forward Brett Sterling netted two power-play goals as the Chicago Wolves closed preseason action with a 3-1 victory against the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday at UWM Panther Arena.

Paired with the club’s 4-3 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Friday, the Wolves finished their preseason schedule undefeated.

Wolves newcomer Kenney Morrison opened scoring at 9:44 of the first frame and, less than five minutes later, Sterling recorded the first of his two tallies with assistance from linemates Keegan Kolesar and Brock Trotter.

After a scoreless second period, Milwaukee got on the board at 7:45 when Trevor Smith put one past Wolves netminder Maxime Lagace.

However, at 10:07 of the frame, Sterling pushed Chicago’s lead back to two goals. Trotter and defenseman Jake Bischoff earned the assists on the play.

Lagace turned aside 17 shots in the victory.

With training camp in the books, the Wolves will look to trim the roster for opening night of the American Hockey League regular season on Oct. 6. Chicago begins the 2017-18 campaign on the road in Cedar Park, Texas, against the Texas Stars. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at HEB Center.
