Kasimir Kaskisuo made 33 saves en route to the Chicago Wolves’ first shutout victory of the season as the team blanked the Grand Rapids Griffins 2-0 on Friday night at Van Andel Arena.
Michigan native Mackenzie MacEachern’s first-period goal stood as the game-winner and T.J. Tynan collected an empty-net insurance marker with three seconds to play in the contest.
In the first frame, MacEachern snapped up a loose puck out of a corner scrum and shot it toward the net from low near the goal line against the left wall. The puck found its way between the near post and goaltender Jared Coreau (4-3-1) to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead at 15:36.
After almost two full periods of scoreless action, Tynan shot the puck from near center ice into an empty net for the insurance tally.
In his third game with Chicago, Kaskisuo (2-2-0) earned his first victory.
The Wolves travel to Milwaukee on Wednesday, Nov. 8, for a 10:30 a.m. School-Day Game. The contest will stream on AHLLive.com.
