Admirals Beat Wolves 3-2 at Allstate

Pontus Åberg netted two goals as the Milwaukee Admirals edged the Chicago Wolves 3-2 Sunday at Allstate Arena in the Military Appreciation Weekend finale.

Wolves forwards Brandon Pirri and Paul Thompson each scored their third goal of the season in the loss.

After a scoreless first period, Åberg collected his second goal in as many games since being loaned to the Admirals (8-5-0-0) by the Nashville Predators. On the power play from the left circle, Åberg sniped a shot that hit the cross bar and fell into the net for the 1-0 Milwaukee lead.

The Wolves (4-7-1-0) knotted the game at one just 4:34 later — and ended their power-play goal drought that dated back to Oct. 27 — as Thompson drove the net in the slot and batted in a pass from T.J. Tynan.

Milwaukee again took the lead when Åberg slipped behind the Wolves defense and beat C.J. Motte (1-1-0) one-on-one for the go-ahead goal at 7:09.

Then 46 seconds later, Pirri lasered a wrist shot from atop the right circle to tie the game 2-2.

At 11:02, Milwaukee defenseman Petter Granberg snapped a shot from the left side of the slot to give Milwaukee the 3-2 lead that held up.

Anders Lindback (8-3-0) made 27 saves for his eighth victory of the year while Motte turned aside 20 shots in the loss.

The Wolves embark on a three-game road trip beginning Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for two games against the Manitoba Moose. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, Nov. 17. Both contests will stream on AHLLive.com.
