Wolves Earn Another Point in OT Loss

Brandon Pirri scored the lone Chicago Wolves goal as they fell 2-1 in overtime to the Texas Stars Tuesday night at Allstate Arena.

“We never played poorly tonight at all,” said Wolves head coach Rocky Thompson. “We didn’t play as strong as we played in the first period. Give Texas credit. They came back and were playing hard. We didn’t give up chances at all tonight, really.”

After a scoreless first period in which the Wolves (4-9-2-1) outshot the Stars 19-3, Texas center Max French picked the puck out of a corner scrum and dished it to Matt Mangene, who was rushing down the slot, for the 1-0 lead at 14:25 of the second period.

At 8:13 of the third frame — with a power-play advantage — Pirri wristed the 1-1 equalizer from the top of the right circle.

Just 21 seconds into the three-on-three overtime frame, Texas (9-8-0-1) center Jason Dickinson snapped home a wrist shot for the 2-1 victory.

Texas netminder Landon Bow (4-3-0) made 31 saves while the Wolves’ goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo (2-6-1) stopped 18 shots in the loss.

The Wolves begin a three-in-three weekend on Friday, Nov. 24, in Milwaukee against the Admirals. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on The U Too.
