The Chicago Wolves announced Thursday that University of Wisconsin forward Ryan Wagner has signed a professional tryout contract with the club.
Wagner, a Park Ridge, Illinois, native who attended Maine South High School, finished his senior season at Wisconsin as the team’s leading scorer with 33 points (15G, 18A) in 37 games. The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Wagner concluded his four-year collegiate career March 3 with a first-round playoff loss in the Big Ten men’s ice hockey tournament. During four seasons with the Badgers, he skated in 143 games and registered 88 points (36G, 52A).
Prior to Wisconsin, Wagner was a one-year member of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program then-based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. During the 2013-14 campaign, Wagner played 49 games and collected 13 points (6G, 7A). He joined the NTDP from the Chicago Mission Minor program.
Wagner will be available when the Wolves wrap up their four-game road trip on Friday, March 9, against the Milwaukee Admirals at UWM Panther Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., and the game be televised on The U Too.
