The Chicago Wolves announced Thursday that defenseman Dylan Coghlan and center Reid Duke have been assigned to the team by the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
Coghlan, 21, enjoyed a terrific rookie year for the Wolves last season as he led the team’s defensemen with 15 goals, 40 points and 10 power-play goals in 66 regular-season games. The Nanaimo, British Columbia, native added two assists in seven postseason games to help the Wolves reach the 2019 Calder Cup Finals.
Coghlan appeared in four of Vegas’ first five exhibition games this fall and contributed one assist and a +3 plus/minus rating.
The 23-year-old Duke produced seven goals and nine assists in 44 games for the Wolves last season before suffering an injury that brought his rookie season to an early end. He joined Vegas for preseason camp and posted a -1 plus/minus rating and two penalty minutes in four exhibition games.
The Western Conference champion Wolves open the 2019-20 regular season at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena. The first 5,000 fans receive a 2019 Western Conference championship banner courtesy of Jewel-Osco.
