The Chicago Wolves announced Monday that defenseman Joey Keane has been recalled from loan by the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) in time for the team’s regular-season finale against Nashville tonight.
The 21-year-old Keane, who was born in Chicago and calls south suburban Homer Glen home, owns 12 assists and 31 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Wolves this season. He spent four weeks on Carolina’s taxi squad earlier this season, but did not make his NHL debut at that time.
If Keane plays tonight against Nashville, he will become the 397th Wolves player to appear in an NHL game. At present, 396 of the 692 players in Wolves history (57.2 percent) have competed in the NHL
The Central Division-leading Wolves enter their final week of the regular season by hosting the Rockford IceHogs at 2 p.m. today at the Wolves Training Facility in Hoffman Estates. Chicago’s magic number to clinch the Central Division sits at 6. All Wolves games can be seen on AHLTV.com.
