The American Hockey League announced Thursday that forward Rocco Grimaldi has earned a spot on the 2023-24 AHL Second All-Star Team, as voted by AHL coaches, players and media in each of the league’s 32 member cities.
Entering the final weekend of the season, Grimaldi ranks second in the league in points (70), third in goals (34) and is tied for first in power-play points (28).
Grimaldi, who is one of two players—along with fellow forward Nathan Sucese—to appear in all 69 Wolves contests thus far this season, put together a six-game goal-scoring streak from Dec. 19-Jan. 2 and in February participated in the 2024 AHL All-Star Challenge, notching two goals and two assists in the Central Division’s trio of three-on-three games.
The 31-year-old Grimaldi is joined on the AHL Second All-Star Team by forwards Samuel Fagemo (Ontario) and Trey Fix-Wolansky (Cleveland), defensemen Brandt Clarke (Ontario) and Jake Christiansen (Cleveland) and goaltender Joel Blomqvist (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton).
The 2023-24 AHL First All-Star Team is made up of forwards Logan Stankoven (Texas), Adam Gaudette (Springfield) and Mavrik Bourque (Texas) and defensemen Brad Hunt (Colorado) and Kyle Capobianco (Manitoba) and goaltender Hunter Shepard (Hershey).
Each All-Star Team member will receive a custom-designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2023-24 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams.
