ROSEMONT, Ill.—The Wolves roared back from a two-goal deficit to shoot down the Texas Stars 6-3 on Saturday night at Allstate Arena.
Justin Robidas notched the winner in the third period, Gabriel Seger had two goals and assist, Aleksi Heimosalmi scored and added an assist and Evan Vierling and Ivan Ryabkin each tallied to help extend the Wolves’ points streak to six games.
After dropping their first four games of the 2026-27 American Hockey League season, the Wolves have come out on top in five of their last six contests.
“We stuck with it all four lines and we buried our chances,” Seger said. “We did a great job finishing off the game, too, which I think is strength of ours. We have great chemistry and a great group of people. The last two or three weeks we’ve really been working well together.”
The Wolves got off to a quick start when Seger found the back of the net 5 minutes, 49 seconds into the opening period. The forward tucked a rebound of a Heimosalmi shot past Texas netminder Brandon Halverson to the glove side. Heimosalmi and Pierre-Olivier Joseph were awarded assists.
“All three of us forwards crashed the net and Heimosalmi did a nice job of getting the puck through,” Seger said. “That’s all it takes sometimes. I like being net-front and I had a little bit of time and luckily I put it in.”
Texas seized the lead on scores by Harrison Scott and Connor Punnett, respectively, just 1:23 apart midway through the first to stake the Stars to a 2-1 lead after one.
Scott’s second marker of the game early in the second made it a two-goal Texas advantage but the Wolves didn’t quit and reeled off five consecutive scores to surge to the win.
First, Heimosalmi took a feed from Viktor Neuchev and ripped a shot from the right circle that beat Halverson to the stick side. Neuchev and Stiven Sardarian earned assists on Heimosalmi’s third goal of the season that came midway through the second.
Seger tied it late in the period with his second of the contest, this one coming off a highlight-reel pass from Chase Wheatcroft. The forward roared into the offensive zone, slid the puck between his skates to deke around a Stars defender and delivered a pass in front to Seger and he knocked it home for his third marker of the season. Wheatcroft and Evan Vierling had assists.
“Wheatcroft made a nice move and I just had to put it in,” Seger said.
In the third, Robidas’ shorthanded goal put the Wolves in front 4-3. The forward broke into the Texas zone two-on-one with Bradly Nadeau, took a cross-ice pass from his teammate and rifled a one-timer by Halverson to the glove side. Nadeau had the lone helper on Robidas’ third of the season.
Late in the game, Vierling and Ryabkin each scored to put the Wolves out of reach.
Cayden Primeau (28 saves) got the win in goal for the Wolves while Halverson (20 saves) suffered the loss for the Stars.
Chicago moved to 5-4-0-1 on the season while Texas dropped to 2-5-1-1.
